Job market recovery ‘should be celebrated with caution’

-

Recruitment should be looked at with cautionWhile the recent recovery demonstrated in the jobs market should be celebrated, recruitment agencies and other professionals in charge of hiring should remain cautious, one sector commentator has asserted.

According to Manpower, a small proportion of businesses in the UK plan to continue recruiting new workers over the next three-month period.

However, while eight per cent of employers forecast an increase in headcount, seven per cent anticipate a decrease in the number of new people they will take on, while 84 per cent predict no change.

As a result, the company has warned the country’s economic recovery may be a “jobless” one.

Commenting on the findings, a spokesperson for Jobsite said: “The recession hit many organisations hard and with quite sudden force so it’s no surprise to see the return to recruiting being slow and cautious.”

She added as companies look to invest more in their workforce by returning to recruitment with “more vigour”, the HR industry will also see a welcome boost.
