Remploy has been named as a finalist for the ERSA Employability Awards 2014, sponsored by Shaw Trust, in the Professionalisation category.

The ERSA Employability Awards aim to celebrate and champion best practice from across the employment related services sector, highlighting the day to day hard work and dedication of individuals and organisations in the industry that are supporting jobseekers to find employment and often making a genuine difference in people’s lives.

The Professionalisation award, sponsored by the Institute for Employability Professionals, recognises commitment to the development and training of employees and the overall professionalisation of the sector.

Remploy, the UK’s leading provider of specialist employment services, found more than 50,000 jobs for disabled and disadvantaged people in the four years to April 2013. It has made a significant investment in employee training and development, and produced a disability guide to equip its employees to effectively support disabled jobseekers.

Beth Carruthers, Remploy’s chief executive, said: “I am delighted Remploy has been shortlisted for this prestigious award. It recognises our commitment to employee development and professionalism, and a determination to ensure that our front line teams and employer partners have the specialist skills needed to work with disabled candidates.”

The award winner will be announced at a special ceremony in London, on 2 June attended by more than 200 people, including all the finalists. The ceremony will be addressed by the Minister for Employment, Esther McVey and include a drinks reception, sponsored by Specialist Recruitment Partners.

Remploy has also nominated Marks & Spencer in the Large Employer of the Year category, for its Marks & Start work placement and employment programme, which this year will offer about 3,000 opportunities to disadvantaged people.

Remploy has partnered with M&S since 2011, supporting disabled candidates into Marks & Start placements. In 2013/14 621 people who completed the programme found employment within 13 weeks.

Kirsty Mchugh, ERSA chief executive, said: “With 180 strong entries to the ERSA awards this year, our judges faced the huge challenge of selecting the winning finalists from such a high calibre of nominees. We are delighted to congratulate all the finalists and look forward to a much deserved celebration at our awards night.”
