Today is Learning at Work Day

Hundreds of workplaces are taking part in National Learning at Work Day today (May 14th).

Up and down the country, businesses are undertaking a range of activates, including sessions on leadership and exhibitions to illustrate courses and learning opportunities in honour of the event.

Triicia Hartley, chief executive of the Campaign for Learning, says the day is about "highlighting the benefits that investment in learning and skills has for both business and employees".

Businesses taking part include Flybe, WHSmith, The Royal Bolton Hospital, Epic, London South Bank University and CSC Computer Services.

Ms Harley is "delighted" at the amount of people supporting the occasion – which she claims reflects "the important contribution that learning and skills have in achieving business objectives".

Meanwhile. Dr John McGurk, learning and talent development adviser at the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, believes adult learning is vital in lifting skill levels in the workplace.
