Zurich’s bright young things lend a hand to the next generation of responsible citizens

– Video developed by Zurich graduates which provides project management tips to help students taking part in National Citizen Service

A video developed by Zurich graduates covering project management ‘top tips’ has been rolled out by the Government to National Citizen Service providers to inspire the next generation of responsible citizens.

The graduates were asked by Zurich’s charity arm, the Zurich Community Trust to research, devise and produce a short training video of 6 -10 minutes duration on “Project Management Top Tips”

This assignment was given in support of a key initiative from the Government, the National Citizen Service (NCS), which is aimed at 16 & 17-year olds. The initiative is part of the Government’s commitment to building a ‘Big Society’ where communities and local people are encouraged to play a big role in making change happen in their area.

As part of NCS, young people undertake a community project over the summer months and Zurich wanted to help them develop the necessary project management skills to deliver these community projects.

Pam Webb, Head of the Zurich Community Trust said: “The Zurich Community Trust is delighted that the efforts of Zurich graduates will be supporting the next generation of responsible citizens to support their communities. We asked them to develop a video which could help young people develop their project management skills and they were really excited about this assignment.

A lot of hard work went into putting together the video and it’s testament to the quality of their work that it is being rolled out to all the National Citizen Service providers”.

The Zurich Community Trust is also offering £250 grants to 20 teams chosen at random who watch the video and complete a short survey by Friday 31st August. The grants may be used to support the team’s social action project or awarded to a UK-based charity chosen by the winning teams.

About National Citizens Service
National Citizen Service (NCS) is a life-changing experience for 16 and 17-year-olds. The scheme is available to people from all backgrounds and brings together those who might otherwise not have met. They get the chance to do outdoor activities, meet new people and have the chance to give something back to their communities. By taking part they learn new skills and have a great experience they can put on their CVs or college applications. It takes place over three weeks full time and then 30 hours are spent making the local community a better place.
