People should ‘concentrate on doing a good job’

Employees need to concentrate on doing a really good job and excelling in their position in the current job market, a networking site says.

It is important people make the effort to stand out as a worker who makes a difference and let their experience show, according to Talkbiznow.

Recent figures from the Office for National Statistics show the working age employment rate was 74.4 per cent in the third quarter of 2008 – 0.4 per cent less than in the previous quarter.

Mark Parker, executive chairman of Talkbiznow, said people should focus on trying to excel in what they do as well as making sure they are planning for their future if the worst does come.

"For me it’s about keeping your head down, really doing your job well and showing your potential to your employer. It is about doing a good job and really focusing on doing the best you can," he added.
