GradWeb take part in charity ‘London 2 Brighton Challenge™’ walking one hundred kilometres in just twenty-four hours

-

The GradWeb team are raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support. The gruelling challenge will demand teamwork, grit, and determination.

On the 12th May 2012, four brave members of GradWeb, the entry-level recruitment outsourcing specialists, will be taking part in ‘The London 2 Brighton Challenge’™ in aid of MacMillan Cancer Support. Not for the faint hearted – the 100km walk is a test of endurance, determination and teamwork.

Setting off in the early hours of the morning, the GradWeb team collectively known as the ‘Walkie Talkies’™ will be joining other challengers aiming to complete the journey that equates to over two marathons in just twenty-four hours. Starting in Richmond, on the banks of the Thames, the team will travel across bridleways and national trails, traversing the North and South Downs before arriving at the finish in Brighton.

Already in training for the double marathon, Alison Poulton, Nicola Payne, Salma Cherry and Sarah Roche are facing their first challenge in raising an initial £1,500 for MacMillan Cancer Support. MacMillan provides practical, medical and financial support to those who have been affected by cancer. They are a source of support, helping with all the things that people affected by cancer want and need. Loyal and committed supporters fund more than 96% of MacMillan Cancer Support’™s services underlining the importance of the fund raising undertaken by teams such as GradWeb.

Alison Poulton, Client Services Manager, explains why the team has chosen to support a cause very close to their hearts,
All of the team has known someone that has been affected by cancer in some way. In supporting Macmillan Cancer Support it provides us with a great opportunity to both recognise the work done by a fantastic organisation and to give something back to a charity that does so much for people.

The team will be raising funds through an array of activities taking place during the run-up to the Challenge and welcomes all support for a worthy cause. You can keep up-to-date with the latest news and events by logging onto the GradWeb™s blog at http://www.gradweb.co.uk/charity.

In the meantime should you wish to make an online donation you can do so via the Just Giving Page – http://www.justgiving.com/gradwebwalkietalkies – where contributions will be greatly appreciated.

Commenting on the challenge Cynthia Bostock, Managing Director at GradWeb said:
‘We are exceptionally proud of our team for all the effort they are putting into participating in the London 2 Brighton Challenge and wholeheartedly support their efforts to raise money for such an important and worthy cause.’
