Aviva encourages nation to get healthy with the new facebook app

Aviva is encouraging people to take control of their health with the launch of Aviva Health 100, a new Facebook app which rates users’ health and allows them to compare scores with friends and family. People are then provided with advice and goals to become fitter and healthier, and will be able to share progress on their goals tracker to build up a personal army of online support.

Available to all Facebook users, people are invited to answer a short quiz about their lifestyle, including diet, exercise, drinking and smoking habits, which are used to generate a health score out of 100 (with 100 being the best score). The app then provides tips and advice so people can make lifestyle changes to improve their health score. It also presents users with a number of achievable goals, and invites them to set their own personal health goals.

Tips and videos featuring health and fitness experts, including players from Norwich City Football Club, athletes and Aviva Premiership Rugby players, provide inspiration and information on how to exercise and make healthy dietary changes. A range of personal stories are also available to inspire others to take control of their health.

Dr Doug Wright, medical director, Aviva, UK Health, said: “We know that as a nation we’re becoming unhealthier and it’s important for everyone to realise how easy it is to make changes to their lifestyles to improve their health and fitness, now and in the future.

“We’ve developed the Aviva Health 100 Facebook app to help people take control of their health. It’s designed to help people gauge how healthy they are and to provide expert advice, guidance and inspiration on how to improve their lifestyle. However fit people are, the app is fun and will appeal to all.”

The Aviva Health 100 app is available to all on the Aviva UK Facebook page.

The new app is in addition to Aviva’s innovative health management programme MyHealthCounts, which is available to customers with Healthier Solutions private medical insurance. The service, which invites Aviva customers to take a more comprehensive health and lifestyle questionnaire, offers up to 15% discount on renewal premiums for people who can demonstrate a good health status.

The introduction of the Aviva Health 100 Facebook app means that even more people can now take steps to look after their health.
