Flexible working ‘could boost morale’

-

Flexible hours can boost morale, an expert claimsManagers could improve workplace sentiment by providing benefits such as flexible working, according to Max Taylor, director of corporate marketing at communications giant Everything Everywhere.

In a recent interview, Mr Taylor praised the government's commitment to "removing barriers" and introducing new legislation such as the planned extension of paternity leave, but suggested more can still be done.

"We have found that there is a clear desire for flexible working across the UK population," he said. "Flexible working is not just nice to have, it can dramatically contribute to the UK's economic growth by creating a more productive workforce."

Mr Taylor added that a recent study carried out by Everything Everywhere subsidiary Orange found 72 per cent of businesses quizzed thought such measures could help to boost morale.

However, the coalition recently announced that it is currently reviewing its plans to protect additional paternity leave and will reach a final decision on the matter later in the year.
