New Citrix remote support and desktop apps for latest samsung android devices provide BYOD options

-

Gerrards Cross, UK — Citrix announced additions to its market-leading GoToMyPC remote access and GoToAssist remote support portfolio with apps designed for Samsung’s new generation of Android mobile devices aimed at improving user productivity.

Recommended as an “S Suggest” App by Samsung, the new GoToMyPC app is optimised to work with the Samsung GALAXY Note II with S Pen for easy and secure access to any computer on the go. With the new GoToAssist app, GoToAssist Corporate customers can now provide full remote control support for Samsung Android mobile devices. For existing users of GoToMyPC and GoToAssist Corporate, the mobile apps are now available free on Google Play.

In a world of consumerisation and choice, today’s mobile workforce is looking for easier ways to work the way it wants – with anyone, from any location, on any device. Citrix provides new mobile device support solutions, allowing organisations the ability to service and support their mobile workforce.

Citrix solutions help organisations ensure they have the control and security they need while providing mobile users access to data, apps and devices. At its Synergy Barcelona conference last month, Citrix unveiled the next phase of its strategy to enable the mobile enterprise with new services that respond to the consumer-inspired mobile workstyles trend. The new remote support and remote access apps for Samsung Android devices are one more way Citrix is delivering on its strategic vision.

“We’re making it easier for companies of all sizes to seamlessly transition to more mobile workstyles and support the broad area of devices consumers choose to do their work,” said Brett Caine, SVP and GM of the Online Services Division of Citrix.

“Our new mobile apps for Samsung Android devices are a strong example of our approach to deliver an exceptional user experience across any combination of data, apps and devices. Our focus on delivering secure, reliable and easy-to-use services remains key for our customers and their end users.”

GoToAssist Corporate app for Samsung Android mobile devices

Previously, due to OS security restrictions, support organisations were unable to remotely control or view the screen of Android devices, limiting their breadth of support capabilities. The Citrix relationship with Samsung enables full support of Samsung Android mobile devices running OS versions 2.3.x, 4.0.x and 4.1.x. Now, with the new GoToAssist Corporate app, support centres and help desks can provide quick and easy assistance for Samsung Android mobile devices and meet the growing demand for mobile support.

Support reps are now able to request system diagnostics, chat or take control of the device to change settings, set up email or perform other troubleshooting tasks to resolve technical issues. All the while, support reps are able to see the user’s phone screen in real time on the rep’s computer screen, making support much quicker and easier. Support organisations can now expand their service offerings by providing instant assistance to mobile users to ensure that one of the most critical and indispensable business tools — mobile devices — are kept up and running 24/7.

Recently awarded the TMC Cloud Computing Excellence Award, GoToAssist Corporate continues to be the remote support technology of choice for users worldwide. Targeted to multi-agent support organisations, GoToAssist Corporate provides comprehensive and secure remote support with instant online access to a live representative for faster resolution of complex issues and increased customer satisfaction.

GoToMyPC is optimised for Samsung GALAXY Note II

The ability to remotely access your Mac or PC on your phone is an essential app for today’s mobile professional. GoToMyPC enables easy, secure access to your programs, files, or networks from any computer browser, Android or iOS smartphone or tablet or Kindle Fire devices. Now anyone with the Samsung GALAXY Note II can use the GoToMyPC app optimised for Samsung’s new S Pen functionality with greater ease of use and more precise navigation and input control.

With the GALAXY Note II, GoToMyPC senses when the user chooses the S Pen instead of finger touch and instantly changes modes so users are able to work faster by dragging and selecting text, hovering and clicking on links, moving content around via cut, paste, drag and drop and navigating windows. You can even handwrite with the S Pen and have the text converted to your computer’s document.

“As a leading provider of mobile access, support and collaboration solutions for the mobile workforce, Citrix shares our commitment to transforming the way consumers interact, connect and create on their mobile devices. We’re excited to provide our customers quick and easy access to market-leading apps like GoToAssist and GoToMyPC right from their Samsung Android devices,” said vice president Jae Shin, B2B alliance group leader of Mobile Communications Division, Samsung Electronics.
