Families offer their support – but at what cost?

This latest quarterly report from Aviva not only looks at personal wealth, income sources and expenditure patterns of the 84% of people who live as one of the different UK family types, but also tracks the difference between family types.

Key findings of the seventh report to be launched on 22nd August include:

  • Monthly net incomes have fallen but monthly expenditure has risen
  • Inflation fears have declined but redundancy worries have increased
  • Nearly three quarters (73%) of the UK population have lived with their family as adults
  • People save £225 per month by living with family but cost host £107

In addition to the regular tracking data, each report includes a spotlight on an issue of great importance to families. This quarter we look at the positives and negatives of intergenerational living.
