Businesses are optimistic about end of recession'There is significant optimism within the jobs market – which could include recruitment agencies – that the market and economy are on their way to a recovery following the recession, it has been stated.

A recent survey by the Recruitment and Employment Confederation and KPMG revealed demand for permanent and temporary or contract staff increased at the strongest rates for 29 and 22 months respectively in December.

Furthermore, average salaries for people placed in permanent jobs increased for the second month running.

Commenting on the news, Phil Flaxton, chief executive officer at Work Wise UK, said the research was a sign of optimism.

“There are a lot of organisations who feel that although we have got a long way to go, we are turning a corner. The latest unemployment figures are lower than had been predicted,” he stated.

Mr Flaxton added the forthcoming general election will also lead to businesses becoming more optimistic and deciding to retain their current staff or begin recruiting new employees.
