How to recruit during recession

-

HR staff have been offered recruitment tipsManagers and HR departments have been offered some tips on how to go about recruiting to add to their workforce during the recession.

Experts from Shared Services and Outsourcing Network have offered their recruitment tips, noting that as it is hoped the economic landscape is improving, now is the time when businesses should focus on how they will cope with any growth in demand.

Seb Donovan, from Top Employers Publishing, said now is not the time to cut corners and when looking for new staff, marketing is an important aspect to finding talent.

And Ben Wilson, of Rethink Recruitment, added now is the time to begin expanding the workforce.

"The market is recovering and 2010 means new budgets and projects for the vast majority of organisations. Now is the time to plan your resource, engage with suppliers and position your brand in the marketplace," he explained.

Meanwhile, Shelly Horgan, recruitment partner at the Kirwan Group, said businesses needed to be clear about what the "must-have" factors are when they look for new employees.

Writing for New Vision, Alice Chekwoti recently stated HR professionals are likely to be put off by candidates who send in either overly long or vague CVs.
