Is Christmas a better time to get a new job than you think?

Making a career move tops many people’s New Year’s Resolution lists, but don’t wait for January is the advice from a leading local jobs board.

LoveLocalJobs.com says that candidates tend to think that there is no point in looking for a new role in the run up to Christmas and put off their search until the New Year. However, they could be missing a trick as December is an ideal time for employers to recruit new members of staff.

In many sectors the end of the year is when projects have been completed, targets have been met and decision-makers have a bit more time to plan for the following year. This quieter period offers a bit of space in diaries to carry out a considered recruitment process.  Equally, for those currently employed, the Christmas holidays provides opportunities to go for interviews without having to take time off work.

An early task in the hunt for a new job is to create or update a CV. This should be a summary of a candidate’s qualifications, skills and experience which helps employers to select the most suitable person for their vacancy. LoveLocalJobs.com has an online CV database for jobseekers to upload their CV where it will be seen by hundreds of local businesses in a variety of industries.
