HRreview columnist Jennifer Liston-Smith has joined the board of Halo Workplace Nurseries as chief purpose officer.
Liston-Smith, a business psychologist and consultant specialising in workplace support for parents and carers, will help shape the strategic direction of the Edinburgh-based company as it expands its software platform for workplace nursery partnerships.
Halo’s platform helps employers establish and manage workplace nursery partnerships while complying with HMRC guidance and statutory requirements for tax-exempt employee childcare. It also provides evidence tracking to demonstrate employers’ involvement in the management and financing of nursery settings.
Supporting employers with family friendly benefits
Liston-Smith brings more than 20 years’ experience in coaching, consultancy and thought leadership focused on working parents and carers. She previously led coaching, consultancy and thought leadership at My Family Care before becoming head of thought leadership at Bright Horizons, advising many of the world’s largest employers on family support programmes.
Anna Semple, chief executive officer of Halo Workplace Nurseries, said: “Jennifer brings the ideal skillset with her deep experience in the needs of both employers and employees, her astute understanding of legislation and her values around business as a force for good. We’re extremely pleased to welcome her on board.”
Focus on compliant workplace nursery partnerships
Speaking about her appointment, Liston-Smith said she believed the platform would help employers provide childcare support while meeting their legal obligations.
“I’m really delighted to be working with the brilliant Halo team,” she said.
“The platform is much needed as a way for employers to operate nursery partnerships that comply with legislation and HMRC guidance. It’s something I’ve been wanting to see for some time: a way of achieving a social good that can robustly demonstrate that it follows the rules.
“It’s good for the labour market, for employers, parents and children. I’m very excited to be joining this innovative business with a mission.”
