In a recent study conducted by employee engagement experts Weekly10, Google has been declared the best company to work for in the United Kingdom, as per employee reviews.
The study, which analysed online Glassdoor reviews for a total of 1,090 companies with a presence in the UK, aimed to determine the most employee-friendly workplaces across the country.
Companies with over 1,000 reviews, at least 20 salaries, and a minimum of 5 job openings were considered for this comprehensive research.
The analysis encompassed various aspects, including salary, business outlook, CEO approval ratings, recommendations from employees to their friends, feedback from different demographic groups, health benefits, financial perks, flexible working hours, remote work options, sick leave, vacation days, transportation benefits, career growth opportunities, and miscellaneous employee benefits.
Who was included in the list?
Google emerged as the clear winner, boasting an impressive Employee Satisfaction Score of 82.88 out of 100. Notable high scores included 95.35 for career opportunities and 89.30 for salary. These were among the highest scores within their respective categories, all based on feedback from former and current employees. Additionally, Google earned an impressive 87.86 for its sick pay and vacation policies, alongside a score of 79.14 for its flexible work hours and work-from-home options. The median yearly salary at Google stood at approximately £82,500.
In the second position, Salesforce secured a solid 81.28 out of 100 for employee satisfaction, but its business outlook experience score of 63.51 based on employee feedback was a slight letdown. The company specialises in customer relationship management software and applications, focusing on sales, customer service, and marketing automation. The median yearly salary at Salesforce was approximately £73,566.
Morgan Stanley claimed the third spot on the list with a satisfaction score of 79.61 out of 100, underlining its status as the best financial services company to work for in the UK. The financial giant received an impressive 86.75 for CEO approval and offered a median yearly salary of £67,658.
Deutsche Bank ranked fourth in the study, scoring 79.29 out of 100 in employee satisfaction. Meanwhile, Cisco Systems secured fifth place with a score of 79.11. Deutsche Bank, an investment banking company, received 72.95 for its business outlook based on employee feedback and had a median yearly salary of £73,002. Cisco Systems, a digital communications company, excelled in the same category with a score of 83.78 and offered a median yearly salary of £56,389.
Other companies that made it to the top ten included Dell Technologies, Accenture, Bank of America, Avanade, and Microsoft.
A spokesperson for Weekly10 commented on the study’s findings, stating:
“Sites like Glassdoor are an extremely valuable resource for those looking for new job opportunities due to how much information can be found regarding the experiences of current and former employees. While salary is an important factor, many of the top companies also received high ratings in categories such as health benefits, sick pay, and flexible hours.
“Work-life balance is extremely important when considering long-term employment options, and the top companies are ranking highly in areas that contribute to this discussion. They also notably share high approval for their CEOs, with all the top ten companies scoring above 70 in this category.”
