Glasgow 2014 partners share lessons of Scotland’s largest peacetime recruitment process

-

HR professionals and employers are being invited to learn the lessons of mobilising and managing an army of staff and volunteers by the people responsible for delivering the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games – Scotland’s largest peacetime recruitment process.

Preparing for Peak Performance, a free seminar hosted by Glasgow 2014 sponsors Harper Macleod LLP and Search Consultancy in Glasgow on 11 September, will examine the legal and HR solutions which helped make the Games such a success.

Selecting the right people and doing everything you can to enable them to perform to the best of their ability is crucial in sport and business, and delegates will also hear from leading high performance consultant Donald MacNaughton – known as the ‘Sports Shrink’ – who has helped well-known athletes develop the mindset required for medal-winning results.

Glasgow 2014 Ltd saw its staffing levels rise from 70 in November 2011 to 1400 by the time of the Games – the Preparing for Peak Performance seminar will offer a unique insight into the challenges and opportunities that arose during this high-profile and once-in-a-generation project.

As Legal Advisers to and Official Recruitment Agency of Glasgow 2014 respectively, before the athletes even began to consider competing, Harper Macleod and Search were working alongside the Organising Committee to help stage a world class, athlete centred and sport focused Games.

Chaired by Harper Macleod chairman Professor Lorne Crerar, seminar delegates will be able to learn from the experience of key figures including: Jan Scott, Head of HR at Glasgow 2014; Simone Lockhart, Managing Director of Search and Shona McKenzie, Search’s Recruitment Account Director for Glasgow 2014; and Bruce Caldow, Head of the Employment Law team at Harper Macleod.

The event will also feature a Q&A followed by lunch and a networking opportunity.

The free, morning event takes place on 11 September at 200 St Vincent Street, Glasgow from 9.40am to 12.20pm. To book your place visit www.harpermacleod.co.uk
