Study devoted to talent retention launched

-

Capita Resourcing have launched their new Workforce Horizon study, which is aims to challenge and development and retention of talent. The study of 200 HR professionals reveals that demanding, savvy employees are forcing organisational change when it comes to recruitment and retention.

The study found that over 54% of company representatives interviewed feel retention will become the biggest challenge for businesses as recruitment develops over the next ten years. Nearly everyone interviewed (94%) in the survey felt that companies needed to engage with talent even before a position is available, such is the growing level of high level positions up for grabs allowing candidates to pick and choose the best opportunity. Phil Smith, the CEO of CISCO said recently at the Balanced Business Forum in London that candidates at interviews now sometimes asked, “how are you going to keep me in this job in three years time?” An example of how much more confident potential employees are becoming when looking for the best job.

Another overwhelming chunk of those interviewed, 92%, said that working flexibility was an issue that would become increasingly important overtime. Only a very small number of employees currently work on a flexible contract, but with agile working growing in popularity, this is no doubt set to change as demands for it rise.

Big data is also becoming an increasingly important issue. 31% of company’s believe big data enables HR to deliver more strategic value but a lack of analytical skills to understand and interpret the data is an issue. (36%), Data located in disparate systems and too much data, were found to be the biggest barriers to getting better value from big data analytics for recruitment and retention strategies.
