The landscape of workplace Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) is shifting, with the UK potentially at a turning point. Following US President Donald Trump’s dismantling of federal DEI policies and a wave of US corporations scaling back their commitments, questions are emerging about whether UK businesses will follow suit.

HRreview is launching a 2025 EDI Strategy and Workplace Trends Survey to gain insights from HR professionals, business leaders and EDI practitioners on how organisations are adapting. Is investment in DEI holding steady, or are companies reassessing their priorities? How is the changing political climate influencing workplace policies?

With a still relatively new UK Labour government in power, businesses face potential regulatory changes alongside ongoing debates around “anti-woke” sentiment and generational divides in the workplace. Some organisations continue strengthening their DEI commitments, while others may be adjusting their strategies due to financial constraints, compliance concerns or shifting workforce expectations.

This survey explores key issues, including:

  • Changes in DEI investment and priorities
  • Alignment between DEI initiatives and business strategy
  • Preparation for potential regulatory shifts
  • Workplace tensions surrounding “woke” and traditional policies
  • The impact of DEI policies on employee retention
