In his Spring Budget, Jeremy Hunt acknowledged that “for many women, a career break becomes a career end.” Childcare is now being recognised not just as a social issue, but as a fundamental component of economic growth and workforce participation.

Employers were already tackling childcare as part of their cost of living and talent retention strategies. But with new government funding announced—offering 30 free hours from 9 months of age by September 2025—what role should employers play?

This provision will only cover 38 weeks a year, and availability may be limited. The announcement has sparked strong demand from working parents looking for support and clarity now.

Join us to discuss:

  • What do the new funded childcare places mean for employers and their people?
  • With limited rollout and potential shortage of places, how can employers act now to support working families?
  • What else can employers do to help working parents thrive and progress in their careers while maintaining family life?
