Eversheds gives a little back to local communities

International law firm Eversheds is participating in its third annual Give & Gain Day 2011, the UK’s only national day of employee volunteering managed by Business in the Community (BITC).

Sponsored by Eversheds, together with HP and Lloyds Banking Group, Give & Gain Day 2011 is dedicated to getting thousands of employees out of the workplace to volunteer their time in their local community. The event will see more than 20,000 volunteers from 527 companies volunteering their time to help communities, donating man hours worth £2.4m into community projects

More than 330 Eversheds employees from across the international offices, from London to Hong Kong, have been taking part in volunteering activities throughout the month of June to benefit their local communities. The volunteers, including Eversheds Chief Executive Bryan Hughes, have been donating their time to complete almost 30 community projects.

Staff from the Eversheds London office have been teaming up with schools and community groups across the capital to complete a number of gardening and maintenance projects.

Other initiatives taking place across Eversheds’ offices include the donation of eight used PCs to a primary school from the Milan office, a beach clean-up exercise by the Ipswich office and pro-bono legal advice for VA Caritas Woman and Child charity from the Vilnius office.

Bryan Hughes, Chief Executive at Eversheds, said:

“We are proud to be working with BITC and sponsoring Give & Gain Day for another year. Success means much more than just the services we provide our clients. As part of Volunteering Month, we’ve pledged to give some of our time back to the communities that we operate in. As a result, our third annual Give & Gain day has been an overwhelming success, not just in the UK, but across the international offices.”
