Flexible working ‘in strong demand’

-

Flexible working is an employee benefit, it has been suggestedEmployees are clamouring for more flexible working policies to be introduced, one specialist has claimed.

Associate director of the Work Foundation Stephen Overell said bosses should do more to encourage the practice and he noted it is becoming increasingly used by personnel.

“I think in the future we will see much more adoption of flexible working and many more different forms of flexible working,” he explained, adding that there is no surprise it is in “very strong demand”.

Mr Overell said staff members are not the only ones who benefit from home working and other variable arrangements.

Businesses that want to address the needs of consumers 24 hours a day, seven days a week will also reap the advantages, he stated.

His comments followed a recent study by PricewaterhouseCoopers that found flexible working is the most sought-after perk for people hoping to secure new jobs, with 47 per cent listing it as their most valuable bonus.
