Gordon Chesterman, Director of Careers, University of Cambridge

Gordon Chesterman began his career in personnel, training and recruitment as a graduate trainee for a multinational company, and in 1983 he joined a major firm of chartered accountants as their graduate recruitment manager. After a period with a small publishing company in Cambridge and running his own training business, he joined the Careers Service in 1995 and was appointed Director in 2002.

Christina Kerr, Head of Campus Front Office Recruitment, Barclays

Christina Kerr currently leads front office campus recruitment across the EMEA region for Barclays. She is also responsible for Global University Relations and Student Marketing. Christina has sixteen years experience in student recruitment and has also worked in higher education as Associate Director of Careers Services, Cambridge Judge Business School. She has a strong interest in diversity recruitment and assessment design. Christina graduated in law from the University of Kent at Canterbury and holds a Masters in Management from LSE.

Neil Armstrong, Talent Manager – Talent Programmes, Boots

Neil has almost 10 years of recruitment experience across a range of industries and skill sectors, and joined Boots in 2011 as a Recruitment and Talent Manager. In early 2013 he stepped into the Early Careers space by owning and shaping the recruitment strategy for all entry level Talent Programmes across Boots UK and Ireland. In a growing area of the business Neil has led the design and delivery of marketing Boots to an inquisitive audience, utilising the best channels to engage and inspire a new generation of Talent. The work Neil has done in the social media space has been recognised with multiple nominations for industry awards and he continues to drive the business forwards in an increasingly competitive space.

Neil is passionate about youth unemployment and works with the local community to support skills development to help young people enter work with the necessary employability skills.

James Hotham, Learning and Development Advisor, Cancer Research UK

James has broad experience working in L&D, OD, and recruitment across a range of sectors, starting his career in Asia in the airline industry. He began working in the not-for-profit sector in 2011, working on visual training programmes for a Human Rights organisation in India. In 2013 James joined the learning and development team at Cancer Research UK, overseeing the graduate trainee scheme and early career talent management programmes. Working closely with the teams around him, James is responsible for ensuring a stream of fresh talent is developed to support Cancer Research UK’s ambition of seeing the day when 3 in 4 people survive cancer.

Tapuwa Mtutu (also known as Taps) is Campus Hiring Lead, EMEA at EMC. She joined EMC two years ago in a new function to head up graduate recruitment in EMEA. The role includes launching EMC’s brand at target universities and bringing new graduate programs and internships into the region.

Sophie Meaney, Strategic Development Director, GradWeb

Sophie Meaney (née Best) has more than 15 years’ experience in international talent acquisition and management roles for organisations such as EY and most recently Towers Watson. As Director of Talent Acquisition for Towers Watson she was responsible for leading a team of 22 people based across 14 countries. Sophie has expertise in Talent Acquisition Strategy, Function Transformation and a passion for leading and developing teams.  In her current role as Director of Strategic Development, Sophie ensures that GradWeb continues to deliver innovative solutions to meet the evolving needs of employers who recruit entry level and experienced talent.

Andrew Nelson, Global Graduate Programmes Manager, InterContinental Hotels Group PLC

Andrew Nelson and recently been appointed the global lead for the five regional graduate programmes at IHG. He considers himself a graduate specialist and first had exposure to graduate recruitment and development in 2001. He started his career at RBS recruiting and developing finance graduates and also supported the central graduate team with the overall campaign management. From there he spent time as a graduate recruitment manager at EY and has led the graduate programmes at Thames Water and now at IHG. Andrew also spent two and half years as a Careers & Employability Manager at the University of Law. He found this an invaluable experience and it really helped him understand the importance of candidate experience and what Careers teams do to support the employability of their students.

Nicky Garcea

Nicky Garcea CCO / Chief Customer Officer, Capp and Jobmi.

I started my career as a Psychologist in 2001 at the National Foundation of Educational Research (NFER) from there I joined the psychology consultancy Pearn Kandola. In 2006 I joined Alex Linley to start Capp, the strengths assessment, product and platform company. I am Chartered Occupational Psychologist and Member of the Health Practitioners Council. I have always specialised in early career and volume assessment and development. I have been a pioneer for the introduction of strengths-based assessment into the early career arena. I have authored several book chapters, journal and trade articles in best practice recruitment methods. I am experienced in the implementation of end-to-end strengths-based recruitment and assessment processes. I am extremely proud of Capp’s new young person’s employability and recruitment platform Jobmi (www.jobmi.com) I am firm believer of the Jobmi Manifesto (www.jobmi.com/Manifesto).

Chris Small, International Managing Director, Saville Consulting

Chris manages Saville Consulting’s international business, with responsibility for overseas clients, a network of 55 international partners and overseas development. He frequently delivers talent programmes and speaks at talent events in countries including Russia, India, China, Brazil and the US.

A Chartered Psychologist with a strong consulting background, he has delivered talent assessment and graduate assessment solutions for many multinational companies including Jaguar Land Rover, Nestlé, PwC and Verizon. He is a fan of utilising high technology solutions to streamline recruitment efficiency within many of his projects and works closely with clients to understand and incorporate their cultural fit into assessment processes.

Lucy Beaumont, Solutions Director, Talent Q

Lucy is responsible for supporting partners to grow and develop their business, with a focus on creating and delivering solution based training.

Prior to her role in the International team, Lucy worked as a Senior Research and Development Consultant at Talent Q where she was heavily involved with delivering client solutions including customised projects. This included mapping client competencies to Talent Q assessments, client validations to identify what predicts success within different populations and group analysis projects to understand the profiles of groups and where training and development might be best deployed. Lucy worked closely with UK and International clients including Phones4U, Royal Bank of Scotland, STA Travel and Carlsberg.
