Workforce Logistics principal consultant and manager Dr Ken Beaumont backed new legislation aimed at extending the provision of flexible working and suggested it can have a positive impact on relations between employees and management..
“The right to request flexible working ought to be an employee’s right,” he said. “The current legislation allows certain classes of people to request it but doesn’t force the employer to give it.”
Dr Beaumont added that the changes should make UK workforces more productive and happier, allowing them to fit their duties around their other commitments and interests and not just limiting flexible working to parents with young children.
Entrepreneurs seeking expert advice on building stronger ties with staff should consider attending the Employee Engagement Forum 2011, which will take place at London’s Canary Wharf on March 3rd.
