UK firms ‘must do more to tackle climate change’

-

Companies in the UK are still not doing enough in terms of cutting their energy consumption, one industry practitioner has said.

According to John Treble, managing director of The Green Consultancy, businesses still have a significant way to go to reduce their carbon footprints.

He commented: "Obviously, there is a greater awareness than there was a few years ago. Climate change is in the media everyday … but in general there is a huge amount of work still to be done."

Mr Treble went on to say that firms in energy intensive industries, where energy bills constitute a high proportion of their production costs, are more likely to have taken bigger steps in reducing their carbon footprint than those for which energy bills are relatively insignificant.
