A power firm worker from Sevenoaks in Kent has won a diversity accolade in recognition of her excellent work as a diversity and exclusivity champion over the past year.
Meghana Garg, based at UK Power Network’s head office in London, won the Diversity and Inclusivity category at the Living our Values Awards.
She has been with the company, which distributes electricity across London, the South and the South East, for three years and is a business relationship manager in the IT team. She works closely with teams throughout the business to ensure all their needs for change are appropriately met by IT, and helps them to deliver benefits to customers using IT as an enabler.
UK Power Networks appoints diversity and inclusivity EMbassadors (Everyone Matters Ambassador) to improve equality and inclusion so everyone across the business has the opportunity to perform at their best.
As part of her diversity role, Meghana presents to new employees on their welcome days, and speaks at graduation and apprentice inductions to help raise awareness across the business. She also represents UK Power Networks at external events.
Meghana, business relationship manager, UK Power Networks, on receiving her award said, “I was so excited when I found out I had won. It felt amazing for my contribution to be recognised, and I hope I have inspired many more in the organisation to step forward and play their part in improving our diversity and inclusiveness journey.
“Diversity and inclusiveness is very close to my heart and I am very passionate about creating awareness about it. I am a strong advocate of equality and believe that our differences make us unique and stronger.”
