Looking back at 2012 and forward to 2013

With 2012 nearly gone, at Workplace Law we have been looking back over the past 12 months in the fields of health and safety, the environment and employment law, and seeing how the events of this year might help shape and influence the next. Our consultants – enticed by the prospect of mulled wine and mince pies – have given us their views on the major events of 2012, and we have produced three short films outlining the major developments.

In our environmental update, Peter Watts and Josh Bullen discuss the consistent growth of the environmental agenda, hampered by a lack of policy, and highlight how environmental management is now a mainstream concern, and part of building resilience into organisations.

Suzanne McMinn, David Sharp and Neil McDiarmid talk about the recent changes made to employment law, and the potential impact of the recent reviews and proposals as part of the Government’s ongoing red tape challenge.

In our health and safety review, Simon Toseland and Rhaynukaa Soni debate whether large organisations are going above and beyond health and safety requirements in response to recent Government initiatives to reform the sector, as well as looking forward to the ongoing CDM consultation, which will play out in 2013 and have a major impact upon the construction industry.
