Employees ‘pressuring bosses to go green’

Employees of UK firms are putting pressure on their bosses to go green and adopt environmentally-friendly policies in the workplace, it has been revealed.

According to a survey by Fujitsu Siemens Computers, just over half of UK workers lobby their employer to improve their environmental credentials.

Recycling and energy reduction were named as two of the main areas in which employees want their bosses to make improvements.

Steve Kendall-Smith, managing director of Fujitsu Siemens Computers UK, said: "Our research shows that the gap between how green we are at home and how green we are at work is certainly closing."

The survey also reveals that 71 per cent of staff now switch off their computers at night.

A spokesman for the environmental guidance provider NetRegs said recently that small companies face many challenges when it comes to going green.

Richard Martin said many small firms are unsure of what they need to do to reduce their environmental impact.
