Employee engagement to be boosted by contest

-

A supermarket chain is to host a talent show to rival the X-factor in an attempt to increase employee engagement and boost customer sales.

Tesco will hold a monthly competition for people from any background who can perform an act and download it online for free for anyone to watch.

1Click2Fame will be launched this month and the winner will receive £100,000 after being chosen in February and will join each month’s winner in a yearly final.

Jonathan Lakin, chief executive of Enrich Social Productions, the company behind the project, said it aims to give those with talent a platform on which to reach both a consumer and professional audience.

“This is an innovative shift for a retailer which for the first time is involved in using a tie up with physical entertainment to get customers into stores,” he added.

Employees at Tesco were recently given vouchers and savings totalling £25 million by the supermarket to thank them for their hard work in the busy Christmas period.
