After being branded "not fit for purpose" by former home secretary John Reid in 2006, the HR department of the Home Office has improved, the group has claimed.
Transactional HR has now moved to shared services, while measurement and customer service has received an increased focus following the creation of a new programme aimed at graduate HR trainees, CIPD noted.
Home Office HR director-general Kevin White said that the function now felt to be much better and professional.
