Google shares its HR secrets

Google is renowned as a forward thinking place to be employed. With the company’s one-time motto ‘don’t be evil’ forming the basis of their relaxed but productive creed. ‘Don’t be evil’, is even said to have inspired sections of President Obama’s foreign policy, your belief in that fact no doubt depending on where you live in the world.

The company has now revealed the secrets that make the online firm so desirable to work for. In re:Work, a new site launched by Google, organisations worldwide can now read about the firm’s HR practices.

“Since Google’s founding in 1998, we’ve experimented a lot with our culture and management practices. We’ve started sharing what we’re learning, what works and what doesn’t”, the Google re:Work team commented.

The re:Work website features lessons, research and ideas from Google and its partners, to help organisations use data and science to make work better.

“We believe that work can be designed to actually make people happier, healthier, and more productive. This is possible when organisations put their employees first, trust them and treat them like owners, and use data to drive people decisions,” the team added.

“Research tells us that organisations are more successful when they invest in people practices like these.”

The website advises on the hiring to managers, how to create job descriptions that grab the reader and how to identify a great manager. The site also contains a blog, which will detail how Google’s HR practices can be put into effect.
