Prize-winning HR manager passing on skills

A HR manager who won £1,000 to spend on training at the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development is set to pass on the skills he picked up to others.

Andy Symonds, who works for Golden Wonder in Scunthorpe, used his prize money to fund training on how to supervise and teach others in matters of hygiene, health and safety in the workplace.

Following his training, he earned a Level 3 Award in Supervising Food Safety in Manufacturing, while he also completed a Managing Safely course developed by the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health.

“Not only can I now teach others about food hygiene in the workplace but I feel I have a better understanding of my position within the company, which makes me more effective in my work,” Mr Symonds said.

The National Audit Office recently claimed there was a strong desire among UK jobseekers to improve their employment prospects through training.
