National Grid selects Tusker salary sacrifice car scheme

National Grid has strengthened its flexible benefits offering by awarding Tusker the contract to provide a bespoke salary sacrifice car scheme to all of its 10,000 UK employees.

The salary sacrifice car scheme has been added to its existing employee benefits portfolio, available to all its UK staff, via an online flexible benefits system provided by employee benefits solutions specialists, Vebnet.

On behalf of National Grid, Vebnet carried out a full and comprehensive feasibility study and put the scheme out to tender to find the best provider to suit National Grid’s specific requirements.

Caroline Adams, Employee Benefits Manager at National Grid, commented on the success of the launch: ”Our flexible benefits plan is an important element of National Grid’s Total Reward package. We see the introduction of salary sacrifice cars as a great way of broadening its appeal.

“We knew the scheme would be popular following the level of interest expressed by employees during the roadshows, but the volume of orders placed in the first month has exceeded all our expectations. It is great to see some cars have been delivered within the first few weeks of launch and we are receiving extremely positive feedback.”
Tusker currently have more than 40 salary sacrifice car schemes in operation covering an eligible audience of 300,000 employees, which is soon to be increased by a further 11 schemes in the next few weeks.

David Hosking, Managing Director of Tusker, said: “We are delighted to have been chosen as the provider for this scheme and are very much looking forward to working with everyone at National Grid for many years to come. We have had a great uptake of the scheme so far and it has proven very popular with National Grid employees with dozens of orders continuing to be placed on a daily basis.”
