The results of a poll by the Men’s Health Forum and co-sponsored by the institution revealed that Jim Royle from BBC television series the Royle Family is seen as Britain’s unhealthiest man.
According to the IOSH, employers should urge their workers to avoid following in the character’s footsteps.
"Encouraging a healthier workplace is not difficult and it can have tremendous benefits for the productivity and morale of your staff," stated president of the organisation Ray Hurst.
He added that allowing employees to work flexible hours can also help to ensure that they remain "healthy and stress free".
Earlier this month, the IOSH stated that adopting a proactive approach to health and safety not only lowers accident rates but also helps firms to become more profitable.
