REC ‘launches manifesto’

The Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) has launched its manifesto which brings together the industry’s central messages and underlines how recruitment agencies and professionals contribute to the economy and labour market.

According to the group, 2010 will be the year to influence political debate ahead of the General Election in spring.

It claims its manifesto will be a reference point for all the campaigning it has carried out and will also serve as a “valuable tool” for taking the opinions of the sector to the major political parties.

The three key areas of focus in the manifesto are creating the right economic climate, removing barriers to growth and delivering jobs and opportunities.

It could be said the document has come at the right time, after several sector commentators warned that current unemployment levels, teamed with more people forced to work part-time, could see the economy plunging into a double-dip recession.
