Ben Black – My Family Care

Ben began his career working as a City lawyer. In 2000, he and his brother Ollie bought Tinies Childcare, which went on to become the biggest supplier or nannies and nursery staff operating from 30 agencies across the UK. In 2005 they founded My Family Care, with the unique proposition of offering clients a complete family-friendly employee benefits and services package.

As MD, Ben has overseen substantial company growth, an ever increasing client roster and the development of My Family Care’s Work+Family Space, the online platform though which employees access services. Now a father of three, Ben has a unique perspective on the very varied needs of both employers and working parents and carers.

Gareth Ashley-Jones – AJ Consulting

Experienced senior HR professional specialising in employee benefits having worked in both corporate and consulting roles and operating/influencing at executive levels for blue chip financial services/consulting firms.

Benefits experience includes the design, implementation, governance and operational delivery of benefit/pension plans – including flexible benefits – as well as occupational health/wellbeing and employee engagement programmes much of which gained from working within major HR transformation projects both in local and global contexts.

Julie Barker – Care4

Julie came to Grass Roots in 2002 with a breadth knowledge and experience of Human Resources.  Prior to joining, she had 11 years HR experience within NatWest, where her roles involved supporting the Director of HR and Communications and HR Advisor/Business Partner, which included advising and implementing HR and Benefits policy.

Julie Barker started her career with Grass Roots as Product Manager– responsible for the development and delivery of the care-4 childcare voucher scheme, which she has successfully implemented for many Clients.

In her current capacity as Director of Client Services, she manages the Account Director team, as well as acting as an Account Director for key clients across a variety of industry sectors.  In  this role Julie has managed the launch and implementation of care-4, as well as other benefits programmes, including cycle to work, phones, computers, flex pure card.

James-Marsh-150px-colourJames Marsh – Symposium

James heads up Symposium Consulting in addition to running Symposium’s internal HR function. A former news editor for HRreview, James spent several years working in retail before his experiences as a line manager at various levels persuaded him to move to a career in human resources. An avid HR blogger and tweeter on HR and management issues, James has worked as a recruiter and trainer and has expertise in both strategy as well as HR processes such as absence and performance management. He serves as the contact and coordinator for all Symposium consultancy projects, selecting the individuals or team of consultants to best serve our clients’ HR needs.

James has a BA from the University of Nottingham in American Studies, a Masters in Human Resource Management from the University of Westminster and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).
